Day Camp
Day campers at Camp Toccoa get to experience all the same fun and adventure as resident campers and still spend the night at home. Camp Toccoa Day Camp is for boys and girls entering first through ninth grade in the fall of 2008.
Dates: Weekly sessions May 27 through August 15, 2008.
Hours: Arrive at Camp Toccoa between 6:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Depart from Camp Toccoa between 4:30 and 6:00 p.m. If other arrangements need to be made, please call Camp Toccoa at 706-886-2457.
Fee: $85 for each week except May 27-30 and June 30-July 2. $80 for the second or more children from the same family. A $10.00 nonrefundable deposit for each week reserves your place. The fee for May 27-30 is $68. The fee for June 30-July 2 is $51.
Staff: Camp Toccoa staff are a fun group of college age students who make the day camp an exciting experience for every camper. Campers are divided into small groups according to age. Staff and campers together choose daily activities.
Lunch and Snacks: As a part of the fee a morning snack and a hot lunch is provided.
Weekly Themes
May 27–30: Crafts Bonanza – Join us for creative fun as we learn to make new things and have lots of day camp fun!
June 2–6: Slugs and Bugs – Discover things that live underground, and soar through the air. We’ll observe creatures in their natural habitat and play bug games, make bug crafts.
June 9-13: Adventures in Flight – It’s high flying fun as we learn about things that fly, how they fly and then make our own flying creations.
June 16-20: Pirates – Ahoy Matey! Join the adventure of hidden treasure, daring pirate games, and learning about the high seas.
June 23-27: Summer Games – It’s International fun as we learn new games, participate in zany tournaments and create our own Summer Games!
June 30-July 2: Safari Spectacular – Join the safari as we learn about animals and their habitat through games, crafts and adventures!
July 7-11: Super Heroes – We’ll find heroes all around us – in the movies, and in our own community. We’ll learn what makes each of them special!
July 14-18: Spies Like Us – We’ll become spies as we look for and discover the secrets around us.
July 21-25: That’s Entertainment – Join us as we explore music, skits, lip-synching and the world of entertainment this week.
July 28-August 1: Survivor - Learn to survive in the outdoors! Learn to build a fire, find your way with a map and much more!
August 4-8: Wacky Sports – We’ll fill our days with a variety of games this week. We’ll play old favorites, learn some new games, and create a game or two of our own!
August 11-15: Choose Your Own - Campers plan together.
Activities
Campers going into first and second grades participate in a special schedule of activities which are fun and challenging. Hand arts, drama, games and hiking may be included in every week long session. Swimming lessons and recreational swimming are included in their daily schedule. Theme week activities are done each day.
Campers going into third and fourth grades choose two activities in which they will specialize for the week by participating in the activity each day. These activities include photography, nature, hand arts, camp craft, drama, canoeing, and archery. They also may play games and go on hikes. Swim lessons and recreational swimming are included in their daily schedule. Theme week activities are done each day.
Campers going into fifth and sixth grades choose two activities in which they will specialize for the week by participating in the activity each day. These activities include photography, nature, hand arts, camp craft, drama, climbing, low ropes and archery. Theme week activities are done each day.
Campers going into seventh, eighth and ninth grades choose two activities in which they specialize for the week by participating in the activity each day. These activities include photography, nature, hand arts, camp craft, drama, climbing, low ropes, high ropes, geocaching and archery. Campers may choose to participate in the theme week activities.
Horseback riding is available at an additional fee. The cost is $50 for a week of experience learning about the horse and riding. This is done as one of the activities.
